Guess where I am! - II

Hi Sara,

Thanks for your email. Glad you´re well. I´m so pleased to hear that you’ve found a job. You deserve the best after all you’ve worked for.

I´m writing to you from Portmeirion, I’ve recently moved here because I took up a position at the Hotel Portmeirion. It’s, but I think it´ll be a great experience in every way. It´s probably the first time you have heard the name of Portmeirion. It´s a tourist village in Gwynedd, North Wales, which was designed and built by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis in the style of an Italian village. So that you can place it on the map, it´s located in the community of Penrhyndeudraeth.

The village is incredibly beautiful, but there´s not much to do, I work every weekend and the days that I’m free I usually go to Porthmadog, which is nearby; it´s a charming town with very friendly people.

How´s London? If I get some days off, I'll go see you. I haven't talked to Maria for a long time. Have you heard from her? Miss you lots. Write soon!

Love,

James

Hi Ana,

Thanks for your email. Glad you're well and congratulations on passing all your exams with highs marks. I know you've been studying so hard!

I haven't seen you since 2018, when I came here on holidays, and I fell in love with this city. I've been working for one year in a tiny and cute café and the owner has let me introduce some Spanish pastries all the weekends. I've been thinking all day, you should came here and know Bibury next spring, it has something unique. I'm sure, you'll feel peace and quiet here.

Bibury, it's a small village just a short drive from Cirencenter, only 10 km away. It was described as the most beautiful village in England by William Morris. You can feel as Bridget Jones because it was record here. There are many interesting historic buildings, for instance, Saxon and St Mary Churches and the most iconic and photographed site, Arlington Row. which is a row with a group of ancient cottages built along the river Coln. We can eat at the Trout farm, it has a wonderful cuisine.

I miss you and your paella too and please say yes to my invitation.

Love,

Sally

Hi, Lupita,

Thanks for your email. Happy you’re fine.

Currently, we’re in Polperro, in Cornwall. It’s been raining all afternoon, so I’ve decided to write you while Nena’s taking a nap. We hired a car in London when we arrived and we´ve been travelling all over the coast.

Polperro is an old fishing village, with white cottages -many of them are covered with flowers- and so narrow streets that cars are banned, so it´s an ideal place to explore on foot. The setting is wonderful and we´ve been walking since we’ve arrived -can you believe it?

There is a small harbour and a beach, and the seagulls are flying all over.  There are a lot of souvenir shops, but also galleries, arts and crafts exhibitions, and attractive pubs. The oldest one is Blue Peter which was smugglers’ place in the 16thcentury; we’ve eaten there today a seafood dish, but I’ve missed some good wine. I think you’d like it.

Now, we are going to visit the Heritage Museum, so I’ll say bye. Hope that you’re enjoying your holidays.

Lots of love,

Biti

Hi, Ellie,

Thanks for your email. We are very happy to hear from you. Now, I’d like to tell you a little about my new life.

As I already told you, we’d been looking for possible destinations in England, but that which are small towns and not well-known cities like London, Liverpool or Cambridge. In the end, we opted to come to Cartmel, Lake District. I must tell you that it’s a beautiful town with very interesting places to visit, such as Cartmel Priory Gatehouse, Cartmel Village store or Unsworth Courtyard.

I also recommend you to visit Cartmel for its great gastronomy. Besides, the neighbours told us that years ago, the town's restaurants barely had customers, but after a while the word spread that they offered delicious dishes and now they got Michelin Stars.

So far so good, but as you know, I'm a mess. I left a couple of boxes at my parents' house with my boots and some clothing that now I need. Well, my parents already have an excuse to come see me.

How have you been this time? Did you take a break in the end? Write me and tell me! I miss you :(

Love,

Helen

Hi Mary,

How are you? Thanks for your email. Happy you’re well and enjoying your time in Berlin . Here, in Tobermory everything is incredible.

Tobermory is a small town on the Isle of Mull in Scotland. In the 18th century it was built as a fishing port but now it’s the capital. The village has a good variety of shops, hotels and other accommodations as well as being the administrative center. There live around a thousand inhabitants. However, the harbor is usually busy with fishing boats, yachts, and ferries.

When visiting Tobermory, there are a lot of cultural activities to do, such as visiting An Tobar, which is an arts center or Mull Aquarium. But I recommend activities in the open air, especially In the wilderness. People are attracted due to the rare and unusual golden and white-tailed eagles, otters, corncrakes and other birds and mammals.

On the other hand, I miss a lot the city traffic because here everything is so quiet, and obviously, I also miss all of you.

What have you been doing apart from working?

Miss you lots, send me some pics from Berlin.

Much love,

Carol
