Guess where I am!
Hi Anna,

Thanks for your email. I’m so happy to hear that your wedding preparations are underway. Hope everything goes well!

Sorry I haven't written for a while! Lately I’ve been very busy because I’ve spent a lot of time looking for a place to live. At last, I found a charming house in Bibury, which is the most beautiful village I’ve ever been to. What's more, it’s close to Cirencester, where I work.

The first time I visited Bibury and saw Arlington Row, which is a row of weavers' cottages, I fell in love with this place. No wonder Bridget Jones’ Diary and Stardust were filmed here.

By the way, I’d like you to come because I want to take you to a quaint place where we’ll enjoy delicious tea with homemade cakes that are baked every day. Even William Morris teahouse makes its own ice cream! Also, there’s one of the oldest trout farms in the country, where we’ll catch our own trout and cook it afterwards. It reminds me of when we were kids and fished with Grandpa.

Hope you can come. Write me soon and tell me all about your wedding plans!

Love,

Mary

Hi Jo,

It was great to hear from you. Glad you’re enjoying your trip.

We’re at Clovelly, a fascinating fishing village in Devon where you can see the Devon canal from and must pay a fee when you enter it. Can you imagine? We’ve already visited the late Norman church, but restored, of course, and Hartland Abbey- it’s like in the movies, the village visitor centre and two museums. I’m really surprised, because Clovelly has been a fishing village only since the 16th century when a pier, some fish cellars and warehouses were built at the bottom of the cliff.

There’re also a lot of donkeys as there aren’t cars on the main street, which is very steep and cobbled, like in Mijas, but they’re boring donkeys, they don’t wear colourful hats like in Mijas. The beach looks nice but I’m sure the water is freezing.

Thelandscapes, buildings and people are typically British. It’s cool but here it’s always cloudy. I miss our sun, our carefree ways and the cheerful people around us.

Write soon and tell us about your trip. We’ll see each other in a few weeks. Have a nice holiday.

love,

Kitty
Hi Celia,

How are you? It´s been a long time since I last saw you. I hope that you´ve not been working too much and you´ve been enjoying your new life.

I´m so happy living in Polperro, here I´ve found the peace and quiet that I needed in my life. Polperro is popular for fishing and smuggling and you can visit the museums to learn about the history of the village. There is a pub called “Blue Peter”, where smuggling took place long time ago. If you want taste the food, you have to try it from food stand, the seafood is delicious. After working, I like to spend time going for a walk along the cliff.

However, I miss my old routine in Spain. I believe that the thing I miss most right now is the food and living in a town with all the basic things around me. Also, I used to be with people all the time, family, friends.

I invite you to visit me, I want to show you the whole village. Miss you lots.

Love,

Molly
Hi Catherine,

How’s everything? It’s been a long time since since I last wrote to you. During these months there have been happening a lot of things that I want to tell you about.

Firstly, I’ve got better accommodation to stay in Cartmel. Secondly, I’ve started working at “The Friesian Experience”. It’s a part-time job in which I have to tidy up the stables and feed the animals. Even though it’s a hard job, I think it’s superb!

By the way, did I tell you something about this wonderful village? It’s located in Cumbria (North West England), in South Lake District. It’s not very populated: around 4,000 people. There’re not many streets but all of them have got slate roof houses painted in white or beige. Some of them have become eateries because Cartmel is a busy touristic place. I love “The Mallard”, a colourful tea shop. I usually spend time there eating cakes and drinking tea.

One of these streets leads to Cartmel Priory gate. If you come, you’ll see an historic building from the 12th-century. Wow!

Well, there’re so many things I want to tell you! But I have to leave you know. I’ll write to you soon. Take care. XXX

Hi Jonas,

I hope everything is going well. I'm going to tell you about my last destination.

As you know I've been telecommuting abroad for two years, but yesterday I moved to Great Britain. Currently, I’m living in a not quite spacious apartment, yet enough for me. I’ve already left my previous accommodation, so that’s why I’m sending you this letter from Tobermory.

This is the main village of the Isle of Mull which lies off the west coast of Scotland, in the United Kingdom. It’s very well known by all who view BBC programmes Springwatch and Coast and Balamory, based on the coloured houses there.

I’ve been walking all day in Aros Park and watching many kinds of animal. There’s gorgeous wildlife is around every corner. It’s amazing!

I booked a trip on boat for tomorrow. Therefore, I’m visiting other villages and I’ll buy you a present and I’ll give you next time.

I miss the Spanish sunny weather and my family, of course. If I were you, I would visit this place at least once in my life.
Best wishes and write soon!

John

Hi Biti,

I´m writing you back as soon as I got your letter. Glad you´re well. I´m happy to hear that your life goes smoothly. As for me, I still can´t explain myself what I´m doing in this village.

Burnsall´s a civil parish located in the valley of the River Wharfe, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, its cottages and farmhouses are built with local stone. The village was originally an Anglo-Viking settlement and there are historic vestiges. I like the five-arched bridge, which is rather charming.

At the moment, I´m staying in a guest House surrounded by a patchwork of fields. The landscape´s magnificent and it´s rich in wildlife. Actually I´ve seen many varieties of birds by the river, especially wild ducks. It´s common to see people fishing for trouts.

Although there´re only around a hundred inhabitants, it´s a place frequented by nature lovers such as walkers or cyclists, even a lot of couples choose it as the setting for their wedding.
Please, write me soon, I miss the closeness of my family and friends. Wish to return home!

Lots of love,

Lupe
Hello Marina,

You know that I always keep my promises, so I´m sending you this letter from Burnsall, the most picturesque village I´ve ever seen. I´ve only been living here since September, and I´m already in love with it.

The village of Burnsall is situated on a bend of the River Wharfe that was used by The Vikings for transport. Because of its Viking past and also due to the fact that Dales Way runs through it, it is visited daily by many trippers. In addition, it´s an idyllic site used for celebrating weddings. As you see, it´s a lively village!

Although it has barely 100 inhabitants, there is a primary school in which I´m currently working. It´s located in a famous building built in 1601, and it´s amazing for me to teach in it! Nowadays, farming is still the main basic economic activity and I´ve rented a room on a farmhouse. Now, I eat fresh food all days!

But not all is wonderful. Sometimes I miss going to cinema or going to a shopping center and other exciting things to do

Well, do you have any news? Please write soon.

Love,

Nancy
Hi Isabel,

Thanks for your letters. I haven’t had time to answer you before until now, sorry my friend. Hope that all my family and yours are good and our friends too.

Lynmouth’s a small village in Devon, it’s only 1000 people! It’s between two rivers West Lyn and East Lyn. Near it, there´s a National Park, which Exmoor. This village surrounded of nature. A famous England painter said once that Lynmouth’s the most delightful place for painting. Here, it is a less hour than in Spain.

In this village you can do different things. For example, you can visit the Rock’s Valley’s near Lynmouth so, you can go walking. There’re goats in liberty and can go trekking. There’s a bar where drinks are very cold and taste lovely. Lynton and Lynmouth Cliff Railway’s another option to drop it in. This’s a cable railway which moves people between the two places, has a cafeteria on the top and offers tea with local biscuits.

Miss you so much, I wish you came one week and if you do it, you’ll bring me some Spanish food.

Much love,

Elzabeth
