Are online lessons more efficient than face-to-face ones?

Would you have imagined attending a lesson on your computer on Internet if someone had asked you ten years ago?  Neither would I. However, a recent survey has demonstrated this type of courses, which have grown a 900% since their emergence, are in fashion. I have just finished two courses and, personally speaking, the experience has been quite satisfactory.

In the first place, the timetable can be chosen according to your work or personal life, so you can decide when to study. But there is a significant risk to give it up if you are not disciplined enough.

A further advantage is the possibility to attend classes from home instead of going to the study center, so you can save time. Also, you don’t need to move to another city, which affords you to do it without spending much money.

On the other hand, the differences between social classes could be increased. Although it is a well-known fact that there are many infrastructures such as optical fiber networks or 4G coverage, they are mainly developed in urban areas and need to be spread to rural ones.

All in all, I am convinced this kind of learning will assist us to have access to a wider range of courses in a much easier way.

At the moment with the pandemic, many things have changed like the way of teaching. For instance, to comply with health measures, authorities have decided that the best option is to attend a class online. As I see it, online lessons are less efficient than face-to-face ones.

Firstly, you will be too distracted and you won´t pay attention to class if you are at home attending online lessons. Also, some students have told me that they don´t have the same level of concentration at home than at university.

Another drawback is the problems that you can have with technology. Sometimes the micro or the camera doesn´t work properly. For example, if professors are a little bit far from the speaker you are not able to listen to them or the image may freeze.

However, I understand that bimodal lessons are helpful for people who don´t live near the university or don´t have resources to go to lessons every day.

To sum up, taking an online course involves more problems than face-to-face ones. The question if this way of teaching will turn regular situation or if students will return to their regular face-to-face lessons?

Recently, we have experienced what online and face-to-face lessons are. We thought that online lessons were better because we are all lazy to attend class, but, after the situation we have lived, many people have changed their minds, including me. But, would we know what online classes are if there hadn't been a pandemic?

According to some experts, online classes aren’t as effective as face-to-face classes because teachers teach the subject in a different way and knowledge is taught differently. Furthermore, they said that face-to-face lessons are the traditional ones that have been "working" forever.

In addition, learning face-to-face is better because of the teacher’s closeness, which is highly important especially for young students. Although, for the older students it’s also essential to have someone who motivates you and keeps you going, other than your father or mother.

Besides, online lessons have some problems, such as, the requirement to have a device to be able to access the class; or another problem is that the study routine is lost because an atmosphere of "relaxation" is created and passing seems easier.

Finally, with all these aspects in mind, I strongly believe that face-to-face lessons are more effective than online lessons. But, maybe in the future, if some improvements are implemented and more accessibility, online lessons will be better.

Today, online courses have become very popular. It’s really comfortable because you don’t need to leave your house to acquire knowledge or develop your skills.

On the one hand, time is better spent by students because they don’t need to use their time driving to the educational centre or parking. But it’s true that, if you are with your classmates, you can get help from them, and it’s easier to solve your problems and encourage each other to finish homework or prepare for the exams.

Also, your schedule can be more flexible. You can organize your time as you prefer, for example you can study while your children are sleeping. However, if you want to talk to your teachers about some issues, it can be a bit more complicated.

In addition, you can take courses from all over the world without leaving your house, which saves you money. This does not mean that you will get to know other cultures or meet new people.

To sum up, study online is safer, cheaper and easier than

attending a face-to-face class all year round. This kind of teaching helps people to study any subject, at any age and from any place, which, otherwise, they would have never done. However, you will miss on the social aspect of learning.

How effective online lessons are can only be measured with regards to the whole learning process. And, yes, they are more efficient than face-to-face . Students acquire knowledge of a certain topic as well as they develop other skills.

Nowadays, online learning provides us, teachers, a wide range of both educational sources and materials that can be used to support the statements and to show our students how and where accurate information can be obtained on the Internet. In addition, it allows them to organise their time better, making their learning experience more satisfactory.

Face-to-face lessons should be the meeting point where teachers and students, all together, will discuss on the topic they have been studying in advance. It should be a check-point to wrap up the issues they had been working on for a certain time -with the constant asynchronous help of the teacher. Teacher’s role is not to is not just to give “a lecture”; moreover, they must also guide student’s learning process.

Taking everything into consideration, actually online lessons are a good way to make our students involved in their own learning process. And that is the main reason why it is successful in the long term.

Online learning is becoming increasingly popular and has grown nowadays. However, despite the popularity of online education, many people prefer traditional lessons to online lessons.

Personally, I think that traditional classes are more suitable for children and adolescents who are still not working. Firstly, face-to-face lessons help them to interact with other students of the same age. Secondly, having classes helps teachers get to know students better, as the learner interacts with the teacher. Thirdly, traditional books are very useful to study, students can learn more easily with books than using online notes. Furthermore, many students do not have internet or mobile devices.

It is a fact that last year during the pandemic, school closures had a negative impact on all students’ learning, especially on the most vulnerable ones, because they did not have access to this type of class.

On the other hand, online learning is more suitable for people who work and do not have time to attend classes, because it offers cheaper and more flexible study options than the traditional education system. In addition, they can take a course from their home.

In conclusion, in my view, online education is the perfect way to obtain a good balance between your personal and professional life.
